5 Tips to Stop Doberman Jumping
One of the biggest challenges during Doberman training is to train them out of jumping. The dilemma with stopping them to jump on people is that dogs are doing it to show their affection towards human. Therefore, it is hard to curb this habit without breaking the Doberman’s heart. Tip # 1: Command your dog to “sit” or go “down”
Training a dog includes teaching them to follow commands. Make sure that you have included the “sit” or “down” command in your listings. Command your dog to go down whenever it attempts to jump on people.
Tip # 2: Do not use your hands
When putting your dog down, or when you try to block its paws when they jump on you, do not use your hands in doing so. They will take it as a form of play and will jump on you again and again. If you are worried to get your clothes soiled, block their paws with your arms wrapped around you.
Tip # 3: Do not show any reaction
One of the most effective ways to discourage your dog from jumping is not to react. You could stand like a post or ignore the dog when they are about to jump on you. Once your Doberman is back on the ground, make sure that you have given him a positive reinforcement. It could be in a form of food treats or pats. If being on the ground would reward them more attention than jumping on people, they would refrain from jumping until it is gone.

Ignoring them when they are jumping on you could crush your Doberman’s heart. You have to satisfy your dog’s emotional needs by making time for plays and showing them positive affection. You have to satisfy your Doberman’s emotional needs aside from its physiological needs for a healthy growth and development.
